Understanding How Clients Leave Reviews

This article walks through the review experience from your client's side: the invite, the review form, and where the finished review appears. Nothing here needs any action from you — it is what happens automatically once reviews are enabled.

The invite

By email, the client receives a message with the subject "How was your visit to …?" — filled in with your business name — and five tappable stars. Tapping a star opens the review form with that rating already selected. By SMS, the client receives a short message with a review link.

There is no public "write a review" button anywhere — the emailed or texted link is the only way to leave a review. That is what makes every review verified: it can only come from a client who actually had an appointment.

The review form

The form asks for one public rating and a few private ones:

  • Overall rating and comment — public. The 1–5 star score and the comment appear on your booking page.
  • Treatment rating — private. One star row per service the client received.
  • Venue ratings — private. Three star rows: Cleanliness, Staff, and Ambiance.

Info

Private ratings are never shown publicly, not even as averages. Only you and your team see them — honest feedback without public damage.

The client does not need an account or a password. A review cannot be edited after it is submitted, and each review link works for 30 days — after that the client sees a polite "this review request has expired" page instead of the form.

After submitting

The client sees a thank-you screen confirming their rating and comment will appear on your booking page shortly.

If you have the Google Reviews or Trustpilot Reviews addon set up, the thank-you screen also invites the client to post the same review there — see Collecting Google and Trustpilot Reviews.

On your booking page

Reviews appear in a Verified reviews section on your booking page, with:

  • The average score and a star histogram.
  • A ✓ Verified by Appointible badge.
  • Each review's rating, comment, service, reviewer name (for example "Anna J."), and your reply if you wrote one.

The section and its navigation tab appear once you have at least one review. While reviews are enabled but none have arrived yet, the page shows a single note: "Verified reviews from real customers will appear here after their appointments."

If your location setting Display service providers to clients is off, reviews never name team members, and all replies appear as the business.
