Client Segments
Client segments automatically group clients based on basic properties, client lists, and appointment history. This makes it easy to send very targeted text campaigns to the right people at the right time. For an overview of sending campaigns, see Sending text campaigns.
Only accounts on the Appointible Pro plan can use SMS Marketing features like client segments, campaigns, and subscription-based messaging.
Open client segments
- In the left side panel, click Marketing.
- Click Segments to see all existing client segments.
Create a new segment
- On the Segments page, click Create segment.
Name the segment
Type a clear Segment name so it is easy to recognize later when sending campaigns or setting up automations. For example:
- Marketing – SMS subscribers
- VIP – SMS-only offers
After naming the segment, click Add new requirements block to define who belongs in this segment.
Choose rule types
Each requirements block has a Type of rule that decides which clients are included. The three rule types are:
- Client properties – for information stored on the client record.
- Appointment related – for visit history, services booked, or dates of past and future appointments.
- List related – for list subscriptions, such as Subscribed to list or Unsubscribed from any list.
For a marketing subscription segment, the most important rules are usually under List related, so the segment only includes clients who subscribed to a marketing list.
Set the first rule
In the first requirements block:
- Select the Type of rule (for example, Client properties).
- Choose a Client property and a Condition.
- Enter the value the property should match.
Add more requirements
To narrow the segment further, click Add new requirements block. This is useful for targeting specific groups, for example:
- Clients from one city who subscribed to marketing messages.
- Clients who subscribed to marketing messages and booked a specific service.
Configure the second rule
In the second requirements block:
- Pick the Type of rule (for example, List related).
- Choose a Condition such as Subscribed to list, then pick the List that holds the clients who opted in.
This keeps the segment compliant and avoids sending marketing texts to clients who did not subscribe. No one enjoys surprise marketing at 7:00 AM.
When everything looks good, click Next to review.
Save the segment
- Review the segment name and rules.
- Click Save to create the segment.
The segment is now available when creating SMS campaigns in Campaigns or when building automations with keywords and QR codes in Keywords.
Next steps
After the marketing segment is ready, it can be used to:
- Send or schedule SMS campaigns from Campaigns.
- Connect automations with keywords or QR codes in Keywords so clients can text a keyword to subscribe.
Combined with Smart sending and Quiet hours in Settings › Workspace › SMS, this keeps marketing messages both effective and polite.
